FICTIONAL CAMPAIGN ARGUMENT
Why boycott?
Because a campus paper should question the people with the most power—not simply repeat what they say.
Too little investigation. In this simulation, important University decisions get announcements instead of accountability.
Too much official framing. Columbia’s version appears first, sounds authoritative, and defines the debate.
Too little follow-up. Committees, promises, deadlines, and policy changes disappear after the first story.
Too much risk for vulnerable sources. Students and protesters deserve clear, ethical rules about identification and anonymity.
Every allegation above is fictionalized for a classroom campaign-design exercise. It is not presented as a real factual finding.
